VMSS code 22: Excessive Disputes
Official definition and what it means for your removal request.
Definition
The Merchant or Third Party Agent generated excessive disputes (1,000 dispute count, and 1.8 percent (180 basis points) dispute-to-sales amount ratio in any single month) into payment system and did not adequately remediate.
What this means in plain language
Chargebacks and disputes crossed Visa’s count and ratio limits in a month without an adequate fix. In plain terms: customers or issuers disputed enough volume that Visa required a listing.
What you can do
If you were listed under VMSS code 22, you can submit a formal removal request to the PSP or acquirer that added you. They will review your case and, if satisfied, can request removal from the VMSS list. We help you draft and submit that request. See VMSS removal and all MATCH and VMSS reason codes.
