VMSS code 34: Merchant Identity Theft
Official definition and what it means for your removal request.
Definition
The Merchant application was submitted using principal owner and/or corporate officer information belonging to individuals that were never party to the Merchant agreement.
What this means in plain language
The application used real people’s identities for owners or officers without their consent—they were not actually opening the account. That is application fraud and identity theft at onboarding.
What you can do
If you were listed under VMSS code 34, you can submit a formal removal request to the PSP or acquirer that added you. They will review your case and, if satisfied, can request removal from the VMSS list. We help you draft and submit that request. See VMSS removal and all MATCH and VMSS reason codes.
